Terms of Employment and Surrender

Reference ACI-C-1001 · Rev 12 · Issued 27 February 2066
Document ID ACID9382820 · Supersedes all prior versions

Atlas Containment International exists to keep the human species alive. Since the events of 01 January 2073, that mission has required sacrifices that we do not take lightly and cannot always avoid. This document sets out what we ask of you, what we owe you in return, and how we will proceed together.

You are joining voluntarily. You may leave voluntarily. We ask that you read this document in full, understand the risks described within it, and sign only if you are willing to share them.

Section 1

Definitions

§"ACI", "the Company", "we", and "us" refer to Atlas Containment International, its subsidiaries, and any entity operating under the ACI seal.

§"Employee" and "you" refer to the individual signing this document, including their physical body, digital identity, and any residual trace left by them following cessation of employment.

§"U33-Resonance" ("U33-R") refers to the anomalous frequency emitted by containment sites, classified anomalies, and unshielded exposure events. U33-R causes distortion of DNA and atomic structure, leading to mutation, severe physical deformation, and, in some cases, the development of anomalous properties. U33-R is present in the environment at all times and in all locations, at varying intensities.

§"Resonance Sink" refers to the infrastructure deployed by ACI to suppress, cancel, or neutralise U33-Resonance within a protected area. Resonance Sinks are powered by blood and require continuous fuelling, calibration, and maintenance. A sink that is depleted, damaged, tampered with, or overwhelmed ceases to suppress U33-R in its assigned area.

§"Exposure Event" refers to any interval during which U33-Resonance is present in a protected area at an intensity beyond the tolerance threshold of the sink assigned to it. Exposure Events may arise from sink depletion, malfunction, tampering, sabotage, anomalous interference, or causes not yet classified by ACI Oversight.

§"Subject-D" refers to a non-employee containment classification assigned to individuals following infraction, breach, or tribunal ruling. Subject-D personnel are removed from the employee registry and are instead processed as a contained asset. This classification is permanent. It is not a role, a rank, or a temporary status.

§"Section Level" refers to the clearance tier assigned to you, from Section I (entry) up to Section OV (Oversight). Section Level is not a rank, title, or guarantee of continued employment.

Section 2

Nature of Employment

§Your employment is functional, temporary, and revocable. Every role within ACI is designed to be transferable, so that no single loss interrupts containment. We do not say this to diminish you. We say it because the work requires it.

§You are not an asset, not a priority, and not irreplaceable. The Company maintains one or more trained replacements for every employee and may activate a replacement at any time.

§Your designation within ACI-NET is an alphanumeric ID. It is not a name. It is a data point in an active database that will continue to function in your absence.

§Nothing in this document constitutes a promise of promotion, tenure, recognition, or continued employment. Equally, nothing in this document authorises the Company to treat you without the dignity described in Section 3.

Section 3

Personnel Rights and Entitlements

§The Company recognises that the work described in this document is difficult, dangerous, and essential. In return for your service, you are entitled to the full protections and provisions set out below. These are not conditional on any specific event, incident, or outcome. They are yours as an employee of ACI.

§Medical care. ACI Medical provides expert medical care to all employees. You may request a medical assessment, treatment, or consultation at any time. Requests are scheduled by ACI Medical and are provided at no cost to you. Continuing care, specialist referral, and rehabilitation are provided where the Medical Board considers them appropriate.

§Right to a safe working environment. ACI maintains Resonance Sinks, containment infrastructure, and safety protocols at every controlled site, to the standard reasonably practicable given the state of the world.

§Right to scheduled rest. You are entitled to rest periods between deployments, in accordance with ACI operational scheduling and the current threat assessment.

§Right to be informed of your Section Level. Your current Section Level and any change to it will be recorded on your personnel file and available through ACI-NET.

§Right to appeal a Tribunal ruling. You may submit an appeal against any Tribunal ruling affecting your status. Appeals are reviewed by the Tribunal. Tribunal rulings are final.

§Right to request a transfer. You may request departmental transfer at any time. Transfers are granted subject to operational need and HR review.

§Right to be treated with dignity. Regardless of Section Level, classification, or outcome, you are entitled to be addressed, processed, and remembered as a person, not solely as an ID.

§Right to leave. You may request voluntary release from employment at any time. Requests are reviewed in accordance with Section 10.

Section 4

Data Rights and Identity

§By signing this document, you grant ACI a perpetual, worldwide, transferable licence to your biometric, behavioural, locational, resonant, and residual data, for use in containment operations, disciplinary review, resonance calibration, and replacement planning.

§You retain the right to request access to your personnel file, and to request correction of any factual inaccuracy it contains. Requests are processed in accordance with ACI policy.

§You retain the right to be informed, on request, of the categories of data held about you and the general purposes for which they are used.

§You waive the right to erasure of any data related to containment, resonance, or disciplinary records, as these form part of the operational record of the Corporation.

§Data collected under this document may be retained beyond your cessation of employment, in accordance with the ACI archival policy.

Section 5

U33-Resonance and Resonance Sink Operation

§You acknowledge that U33-Resonance is present in the environment at all times and in all locations. Your safety within ACI-controlled space depends on the continued operation of the Resonance Sink assigned to that area.

§Resonance Sinks are powered by blood. Blood is a consumable resource, and sinks require replenishment. ACI Medical operates a donation schedule to meet this need.

§You agree to donate blood on a schedule determined by ACI Medical. Donation intervals, volumes, and methods are set by ACI Medical and are reviewed periodically to protect donor health. ACI Medical will not schedule donations beyond what is medically safe for you.

§You acknowledge that Resonance Sinks may fail. Failure may arise from depletion, malfunction, tampering, sabotage, anomalous interference, or causes not yet classified. Where a sink has failed, ACI will restore suppression as quickly as operationally possible.

§You accept the residual risk of Exposure Events. ACI provides Resonance Sinks as a mitigation, and maintains them to the standard reasonably practicable, but cannot guarantee that a sink will remain operational in every circumstance.

§You acknowledge that where an Exposure Event occurs despite the mitigations described in this document, you waive any claim against the Company for injury, mutation, deformation, anomalous outcome, loss of cognitive function, temporal displacement, disfigurement, reclassification, or non-standard cessation of existence, arising from that event.

§You will be informed of the operational status of the Resonance Sink assigned to your primary work area at the start of each shift, to the extent that such information does not compromise containment security.

Section 6

Reassignment to Subject-D

§The Company may reassign an employee to Subject-D classification following infraction, breach, or Tribunal ruling. Reassignment is a serious measure and is not taken lightly.

§Before reassignment is confirmed, the employee is entitled to notice of the grounds, an opportunity to respond, and a hearing before the Tribunal. Tribunal rulings are final.

§Upon confirmed reassignment, you forfeit departmental affiliation, section level, employee rights, and the privilege of being addressed by name. You are processed as a contained asset.

§Reassignment to Subject-D is not a demotion. It is a removal from the employee registry. It is permanent.

Section 7

Disciplinary Authority

§ACI Tribunal rulings are final. They are not subject to appeal beyond the internal appeal described in Section 3, review, reinterpretation, or external jurisdiction.

§You may be subject to unannounced disciplinary audits, remote verification, and monitoring of your communications on and off ACI-NET. Monitoring is conducted for containment security and is not used to harass, coerce, or discriminate.

§Failure to comply with any ACI directive — whether issued formally, informally, or silently — may result in reassignment, suspension, or termination, in accordance with the procedures described in this document.

§You have the right to be informed of the grounds of any disciplinary action, to respond to those grounds, and to have your response recorded on file, whether or not it alters the outcome.

Section 8

Conduct and Compliance

§You must report any anomaly encounter, informational breach, resonance irregularity, or unauthorised exposure to your reporting supervisor without delay.

§You must not speak of ACI operations, anomaly designations, employee identities, site locations, sink placement, or any information classified Section III or above, in any medium, at any time.

§Silence is expected. Silence under pressure is rewarded. Silence under interrogation protects the people we are trying to keep alive.

§Your conduct reflects on the Company. Where conduct is deemed inconsistent with ACI standards, the Company may take corrective action, and will inform you of the grounds.

Section 9

Operational Risk

§You accept that ACI operates in environments where death, dismemberment, temporal erasure, mutation, and identity dissolution are foreseeable outcomes. This is a consequence of the mission, not a policy of the Company.

§You accept that the Resonance Sink protecting your assigned area may fail without warning. Where it does, ACI will respond as operationally possible, and will not abandon personnel without cause.

§You accept that no rescue operation can be guaranteed. The Company will weigh the value of extraction against the cost of replacement and act in the interest of continued containment.

§You accept that your ID may be retired from the registry without ceremony, notification, or record of disposition. ACI will hold your file, and will remember your contribution to the extent it is able.

§You accept that the survival of the human species depends on the work ACI performs, and that your participation in that work is a meaningful contribution to it.

Section 10

Compensation, Recognition, and Voluntary Release

§Compensation is provided as a designation and a stipend, calibrated to your Section Level and operational role. It is not intended to reflect the value of your labour, which is measured by throughput, not by merit.

§Blood donation is a duty of employment. ACI Medical provides nutrition, recovery, and aftercare as part of the donation schedule.

§Medical care is provided to all employees under Section 3, without condition and without charge. Where an Exposure Event occurs, medical care continues for as long as the Medical Board considers it appropriate, including specialist referral, reclassification support, and rehabilitation.

§Recognition is at the discretion of ACI Oversight. Absence of recognition is not evidence of absence of contribution.

§You may request voluntary release from employment at any time. Requests are submitted in triplicate to HR and reviewed by the Tribunal. Where release is granted, remaining obligations under Sections 4, 5, 7, 8, and this Section survive for a period determined by the Tribunal.

§Where release is not granted, you remain entitled to the protections described in Section 3 for as long as you are employed.

Section 11

Termination

§Your employment may be terminated by the Company at will, with or without cause, notice, or explanation.

§Where termination is for cause, you are entitled to the notice and hearing provisions described in Section 7.

§On termination, obligations under Sections 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 survive for a period determined by the Tribunal. Blood donation schedules may continue past cessation where operationally necessary, in which case you remain entitled to the aftercare provisions described in Section 10.

§Termination of employment does not constitute termination of the confidentiality obligations described in Section 8.

Section 12

Amendments

§The Company may amend, suspend, or replace these terms at any time. Where an amendment materially changes your rights or obligations, you will be notified through ACI-NET.

§You retain the right to request voluntary release under Section 10 if an amendment materially changes the terms under which you agreed to serve.

§The version of these terms in force at the moment you sign governs all interpretations of your service prior to any subsequent amendment.

Section 13

Governing Authority

§These terms are governed by the ACI Code of Juridics, as amended, and by the authority of Atlas, which is absolute in matters of containment.

§Disputes arising under these terms are resolved by ACI Tribunal. You are entitled to be heard. The Tribunal will rule, and its ruling is final.

§Where these terms conflict with any external law, convention, or act of mercy, these terms prevail, on the grounds that the mission of ACI is the preservation of the human species.

Section 14

Acknowledgement

§You confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms without coercion, duress, or external influence.

§You acknowledge that ACI provides Resonance Sinks and other mitigations as a good-faith effort to protect personnel, and that despite these efforts, exposure events may occur.

§You accept full personal responsibility for the residual risks described in this document, on the understanding that the Company will provide the protections described in Section 3 to the best of its ability.

§Signing this document constitutes a transfer of your professional self into the custody of Atlas Containment International, alongside the protections and rights described herein.

§You sign not as an individual, but as an ID. You are remembered as more than one.

§The melody will continue with you.
